Diary 31

28th February, 2022

709 days since our first lock down

I’m feeling a bit guilty about not keeping my entries up to date but the Covid debacle, Brexit and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, have left me reeling a bit and I have come to realise there are more important things around than my ramblings. However, it does no harm to put “pen to paper” when readership is totally insignificant. Also, there is a sense of satisfaction when i press “Publish”. So, now for a I go for another eye injection on Wednesday and I feel my eyesight may not be getting any better. I am driving, although only in daylight. My left eye fills up quickly and makes it difficult to read, even with the “bad” eye closed. After 7 injections I am getting fed up with it all really. I don’t mind being short sighted. That can be corrected. This is something else.

I’ve watched Ronnie play two games in which he was again used badly in my view. Yesterday, for example, he came on from the bench and caused havoc with their defence all funnelling back to cancel him out. The result was that all the play was in their half. He was then taken off and the play moved into our half and they scored three goals winning well but, in my view, undeserved.

Talking of sporty stuff, I have rejoined the gym but have paid for a personal trainer, Nikki, who will try and strengthen me up, Nowhere on my ageing frame in particular. Just a general improvement in strength. bought two 5kg dumb bells on line. They are not called dumb bells for nothing. I can hardly lift them for the arm curls, which is why I bought them. So I bought two 1kg weights from Aldi for a couple of quid and they are perfect. One day I may manage the 5kg weights. I have as mentioned before, also booked some physiotherapy sessions to get some treatment on my back and knees. The physio is called Sam and between him and Nikki, I am hoping to notice a big difference. Especially going up stairs. The sessions are hard but manageable and some I can do at home.

So, Putin HAS invaded the Ukraine and I was ready to sympathise with a bombed out country. Defeated by a far superior force. But it has not turned out that way. The Ukrainian people have been absolutely magnificent in the defence of their country, although, it has to be acknowledged that the Russian Army, in large numbers, are less than enthusiastic about their duty to kill people they regard as their mates. The problem is that even if they all lay down their arm, Putin is threatening to wield the big stick and use nuclear weapons. The man is an absolute psychopathic sociopath, He has no feelings or empathy with people including old women, mothers and children who can be seen queuing to get out of their country into Poland. He is a pathetic excuse for a human being and I can’t be the only one who wants him GONE.

An election would be good, but sadly he is a 5 foot 7 inch dictator. It is interesting that small dictators have regularly been nutters of one sort or another.

Kim Jong Un. Unknown but between 5’4″nand 5′ 7″

Putin 5′ 7″

Napoleon 5′ 6″

Mussolini 5′ 7″

Stalin 5′ 5″

Lenin 5′ 5″

Franco 5′ 4″

Khrushchev 5′ 3″ , and so on.

In some ways Putin is the worst of the lot. He hates NATO and when Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joined, it must have fried his brain. At least that may explain all the cosmetic surgery resulting in an inability to smile. Hopefully he will nave little to smile about soon anyway.

As for Boris and his entourage, they are mostly absent from the fray or taking no action to allow Ukrainians into the UK without Visas. Why do we not do the same as our European friends and allow them all in for at least three years? There seems to be no problem letting Russian millionaires in and giving them citizenship and even ennobling them giving them, effectively, a vote on our laws. Are we mad?!!! Not us. Our politicians. In the meantime bombs are falling on the Ukraine while it’s people try to get out of the country or are sheltering in the very deep metro system. At least we are sending arms to be distribute amongst volunteers who, in the main, have had no training. We also have the threat of the use of nuclear weapons. The signs are clear that we are dealing with a madman. What a world we live in. Terrible.
